For over 20 years, we have been working as a public benefit and non-profit organization, uniting more than 3,000 members across the country. We support individuals affected by cancer and the challenges it brings.

Our work began in 2004 under the name of the Association of Patients with Leukemia. In 2018, we expanded our scope to include patients affected by all types of hematological cancers. We specialize in advocacy and support for patients with blood cancers. Our members include patients and their families, healthcare professionals, and others who understand the importance of providing help.

Our mission is focused on enabling effective treatment, which we pursue by:

  • Advocating for better access to electronic medical data and essential medications, submitting letters and applications to the Ministry of Health regarding reimbursements, and ensuring access to proper treatment standards.

  • Supporting medical staff by organizing training sessions and workshops for doctors and nurses, providing necessary supplies, and contributing to department renovations.

  • Offering psychological, legal, and educational support to patients by facilitating access to specialists, organizing educational meetings and workshops, promoting bone marrow donation, and actively participating in the development of the Polish Bone Marrow Donor Registry.

  • Providing various forms of rehabilitation using the most modern and effective methods during and after treatment. We implement solutions in line with the National Rehabilitation Agreement for NGOs, of which we are a part.

  • Fostering integration among patients and their families through a Facebook support group, one-day trips, social events, and sports activities (e.g., Vistula River rafting, cycling tours, and educational walks).

  • Supporting and funding scientific and clinical research that contributes to improved treatment and greater awareness among patients and their communities.

  • Organizing educational workshops, lectures, trips, and nationwide events for patients.

  • Hosting conferences as a means of raising patient awareness.

  • Coordinating 7-day rehabilitation stays in the mountains, supervised by nurses, occupational therapists, or psychologists, for groups of around 25 people—especially for those recently hospitalized or struggling with low mood or well-being. Over 300 patients have benefited from this form of support.

Our Patients

Our patients are people who refuse to give up. Through long-term hospital treatment, many of them succeed in achieving remission or halting the progression of their disease. We reach them through two main groups:

  1. Hospitalized patients: We organize regular ward meetings, therapeutic workshops, small events such as St. Nicholas Day celebrations, and provide self-therapy materials and medications.

  2. Outpatients and patients in remission: We regularly hold thematic meetings, workshops, lectures, and trips to foster community, exchange experiences, and provide mutual support.

Key Developments

The year 2018 marked significant changes. We created new communication tools for patients, including an active Facebook support group and a team of a dozen volunteers running a direct support helpline. We laid the foundation for further growth, and the scope of our activities continues to expand each year.

We work to improve the healthcare system and reimbursement policies by participating in Parliamentary Committees and Teams, providing expert opinions, and advocating for the implementation of modern therapies and systemic changes to ensure effective and minimally burdensome care for patients.

We are affiliated with patient organizations under the Patient Rights Ombudsman and with several major international associations.

All our association members work on a voluntary basis. Our activities are financed through donations, public fundraising, and the 1.5% tax designation.
